Kimberly's Story:
 
"God is the reason I am alive today. His promises to me are what keeps me going each day. Everyone struggles in life. Some more than others, and with God, I was able to overcome those struggles. Thankfully I grew up in a Christian home where I was taught all about God's promises. God is love. God protects us. He heals us. He sets us free. As I got older, I started questioning God and all His promises. I’d often find myself screaming out in tears things like “WHY GOD? WHY DIDN’T YOU PROTECT ME AS A CHILD? WHY DON’T YOU LOVE? WHY DID YOU TAKE MY FATHER FROM ME?!” I remember cursing God and crying out to Him in such anger! Around my high school years, I found myself searching for a love I so desperately longed for, in all the wrong places (even at church.) I needed to feel wanted and loved, and the more I received that “love” the more pain it caused it. The years went on and the scars on my heart got deeper and deeper. The weight of my sins were like 1,000 chains, latched onto me, pinning me down. I remember many nights in college, laying on the floor screaming and crying until I couldn’t cry anymore. I was going through a rough time, suffering from panic attacks, anxiety, depression, anger, you name it. I ended up dropping all my classes (except 2 so I could still keep my student loans) and most days, I couldn’t leave my room. It was a DARK time in my life. One day I stumbled upon Revelation 21:4 “One day, He will wipe every tear from their eyes and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.” I just sat there and cried as I reread that verse. I feel like God wrote that verse specifically for me. It spoke to me then and speaks to me everyday that one day, I will no longer feel the pain I have felt on this earth. The Lord loves you, Kim, so much that He sent His only son to SET ME FREE FROM THE WEIGHT OF MY SINS. My chains are GONE! God wipes the tears from my eyes every day and guess what? He wiped them away when I was a child too. He promised there will be nor more death because in Him, we all live. Revelation 21:4 gives me a beautiful image of my heavenly Father holding me when I was younger, holding me now, and holding me in the future, wiping away my tears, healing my broken heart. The pain I feel is temporary but the love I feel from God is everlasting."
