CURSOR #2: ENVY

Today's cursor is envy.

James 3:16 reads: "For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind."

It is important to tell yourself that it is not about how much, but about how well. How well you live for Christ! How many times do you find yourself discontent with what you have? How often do you wish you had what someone else had? Longing to have what others have is being envious. Instead of being appreciative of what you do have and living a life of doing well for Christ, we let ourselves envy what others have and immediately switch our mindset to how much. We look at how much someone else has and long to have that much, too! When you are not content with what you have, and too busy longing to have what someone else has it prevents you from seeing what the Lord has already given to you. Envy is cursor number two. Envy fills up our lives pretty quickly. It can be easy to fall into this trap due to the amount of materialism this world is full of. We watch others get what they want and get the idea that we have to have that too. Sometimes we have to take a step back and realize it is not about that. It is not about being jealous over what someone else has, but about being content and thankful for what you do have. God will surely bless that behavior. When we act envious, we fill up in the wrong ways, therefore making it even easier to block out God. We begin to fill up with the wrong things and miss out on what God wants to fill us up with: things towards His purpose for us! Are you envious of someone in your life? Does envy take over sometimes? Today, focus your heart and your mind on contentment. Thank God for what you have and ask Him how well you are living. If envy is one of your cursors, pray about it! Then, jot it down and write your thoughts about it onr! We will talk more about this cursor when we wrap up this section!

How did God speak to you through today's post?

What word stood out to you today?

How can you apply today's message to your life?
