"Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts."- 1 Thessalonians 2:4

So often we fight for the spot light. We fight for the attention of others. We do things just to be acknowledged. What we must realize is that nothing comes from getting the attention we crave from the world. We do not gain anything. In all honesty, we lose because we are not pleasing God. 1 Thessalonians 2:4 reminds us that our purpose isn’t to please or get the reaction from people, but solely God’s. It is when we choose to make God our only audience, that we will gain. He will then see the motives of our hearts. This shows we understand that it doesn’t matter what type of reaction we get from the world or if the world even knows. God would rather us work humbly behind the scenes over putting on a show for the public. A show expresses that our motives were not pure. God is the only audience that matters. We don’t need an auditorium full of people applauding or approving of our actions. We only need God’s standing ovation. Today, let’s put on a show for God and God alone. Let’s do His work behind the scenes. Let’s not worry about the approval of others or having to please those who’s opinions don’t matter. Today, let’s make God our ONLY audience. He is the only one that can truly see and judge our actions.
