Embracing The Mess You Are

I haven't posted in a while, because I've been stuck in a messy stage of life. A stage where you're still trying to figure out what God's pushing you to pursue. A stage where you're still discerning what's God and what's not. A stage of adjusting, adapting, transforming, becoming and of course understanding that even though life is messy, God brings purpose to the mess. As you know, I spend a majority of my time with little ones (best way to spend your day I might add), and the rest of it at home with my zoo and handsome hubby, and all three of these things have one very tedious thing in common- making messes (sorry honey). I am at a constant battle with messes. Spilt Cheerios on the floor, stuffing from a destroyed dog toy, dirty dishes brought home from work left untouched. A mess. Maybe this is why my go-to hairstyle is a messy bun? Hey, why not rock something that's meant to be messy? Because, truth is... there's a little mess in and around all of us. We don't have all of our stuff put together. We won't always dot all of our i's and cross every t. It's life. And life is messy. And I'm learning, it's not always about having to consistently clean up the mess, but about embracing the mess. Understanding what caused the mess- whether it be a fun afternoon spent spraying paint at each other, or a curious cat spilling milk on the counter causing uncontrollable laughter. You see, messes bring beauty. Messes bring lessons and cause joy. We have to accept the mess we are and the messes we are caught up in, because life is so much more than being caught up in it. It's about waking up and owning that messy hair. It's about living in the messy moment, and cleaning it up later! Don't try to tame a mess that can't be controlled. Be the beautiful mess that you are. Embrace YOU today. Wake up and smile through. I may be caught in a mess, but what a beautiful journey! I'm content being exactly who I am- flawed, messy, clumsy, quirky, and still figuring things out. And, I smile because I'm okay. It's funny what you can learn from messes. Allow yourself to learn! Grow from it. Experience it. And allow others to learn from your messes! Don't be afraid to share the mess and the outcome! And most of all, don't forget to let God into your messes! Praise Him with all you have, even if it's unclean! He knows and He loves you anyway. He loves your mess, and He is always there to help you clean up. Besides, messes come from or cause beautiful things. You never know what He has in store for you and the mess you have made! 💛
I am an almost 22 year old, imperfect friend, impatient dog mom, difficult wife, flawed daughter- a mess of chaos and uncertainty, but He LOVES me anyway. He will use me anyway. He will gather the mess that I am, and put it to work in someway, shape or form. I may not have it all together, but I can rest knowing my perfect Savior does. He embraces the mess I bring, the mess I am going through, the mess I am learning about and shapes me for the better from it all. He knows what I need to learn from it. He knows the choices I have made, the consequences of my actions. He understands the mess I am surrounded by and gets me through.
Today, EMBRACE the mess. Don't feel the need to clean up, not yet anyway. Recognize the messes in your life and find out who exactly you are because of them or what lessons they are bringing you. Wake up, and take on your day with the messiness.
