You wake up, still tired from the draining day you had yesterday.
Another day filled with mundane tasks and a to do list that you don’t even know where to begin with.
You’ve got your priorities, your chores, your work, and some hope for a minute to relax.
Then there is all that you didn’t get done yesterday.
It is a never ending cycle, becoming a lifestyle that you just cannot keep up with.
You can’t seem to be the perfect housewife that cooks, cleans, organizes, folds laundry, and plans, while trying to be the student that excels in her course work.
It feels like you can’t manage two jobs, your home, being a wife, a social life, all while still enjoying your hobbies or favorite past times.
Can life just slow down? Or can’t the list of obligations become less? Because today it feels like time is going faster and faster, and the list is getting longer and longer.
In a world that keeps moving, you just can’t keep up.
You’re tired and behind, causing feelings of anxiety and stress to set in.
There is no peace within your heart, nothing but a constant, overwhelming rush.
You feel like you’re doing absolutely everything, but nothing at the same time. Asking yourself: “Where do I even begin?” “How do I keep up, when my heart is falling behind?”
Is this you today? Are you feeling on edge? Unable to keep up? Doubting your ability to keep going?
My dear, let me tell you, I’ve been here. Actually, on many days, I am still living in that battle.
But, I am here to tell you that there is a way out. There is a way out of the constant cycle. There is a way to keep up- Jesus is that way!
Keeping up with a schedule and tasks is keeping up with the world. Before we know it, we are all caught up in the world, believing that we have to be ten people at once completing ten things at a time.
Of course we are getting run down and burnt out!
So, why keep up with the world if we feel this way? Why try to keep up with what that makes us feel even more unproductive and unmotivated?
This is the enemy! He wants you to feel drained and unproductive.
The enemy wants you to be caught up in a cycle that sucks the life out of you and makes you feel not good enough.
And this is so true, because what do we naturally do when we don’t complete everything our lists says? We beat ourselves up- tell ourselves we are not good enough and need to try harder.
NO. Dismiss those thoughts- they are directly from the enemy. Don’t you know that Jesus already sees you as more than enough?
Don’t you believe that God sees your effort? Of course the world won’t. Of course to the world you are weak and not able to do enough. God says we are ENOUGH & this is why we need to keep up with Him instead of the world.
When you can't keep up with life, keep up with Jesus.
Make time to keep up with His word. Make time to study scripture. KEEP UP in constant communication with Him through prayer. He doesn’t care if you didn’t get your laundry done. He cares if you make time for Him and keep up with Him daily.
He brings perfect peace and a settled mind, things that cannot come from the world. John 14:27 says:
“I am leaving you with a gift- peace of mind and heart. And this peace I give the world cannot give, so do not be troubled or afraid.”
Peace of mind- something we all are searching for when checking things off of our to-do list. But even doing so won’t bring us that mindset.
Only God can provide that gift, and we can only receive it through Him when we are choosing to keep up with Him.
Don't you want that peace? Isn't that all your heart is longing for? If so...
Stop spending time doing anything that doesn’t involve Jesus. Stop focusing on the tasks and priorities. God will prioritize your life when you prioritize Him. Make Him your number one task, let Him figure out the rest. Focus above, not on what’s around you. Don’t waste time worrying about what you can and cannot do. Don’t worry about the priceless things when there is a God that surrounds you with worth and peace. Don’t let your heart be troubled or insecure by how the world makes you feel. Fix your eyes above.
“So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” 2 Corinthians 4:18
Be grounded in those words today.
Focusing on Jesus will bring a life filled with purpose and productivity. Be grounded in Jesus, do HIS work, and you will see a change in that mundane cycle. He will not let you down. He will not allow you to feel less than or incapable. He values the work you do and all that you are. Keep up with Him today, lovely. Put aside the task that seems too big for you to tackle. Walk away from the work load that is never-ending. Take a minute to be with Jesus. Give Him all that you are and keep up with what He places in your heart. He will give you a clear mindset, a fresh start, a push to do all that you can do.
So, if you are feeling like you cannot keep up with what is around you, just keep up with WHO is within you. It is when we choose to do so, that we will see a change in the rest of our life. Then, tomorrow you’ll wake up knowing just where to start, and WHO to start it with. With Jesus there are no deadlines, complications, frustrations, setbacks, or let downs.
So, wake up ready to keep up with Jesus, the rest will fall right into place.
