Bread of Adversity

“Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them. Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’” - Isaiah‬ ‭30:20-21 NIV‬‬ Let’s talk about bread. Who doesn’t love bread? I mean who can turn down a baguette from Panera? Not this girl 🙅🏼 I also love diving into our daily bread, His word. He gives us multiple kinds of bread though, throughout His word, one of those being the bread of adversity. An article I read today compared it to gluten free, bread I cannot stand the taste of gluten free bread. The same goes for adversity - it’s not something I enjoy. And like the gluten free bread, though it (the adversity) might not taste the best, we must remember it is still intended for GOOD because He gave it to us. “It’s not like the white bread of temporal comfort, which appeals to me while I’m eating it. No, it’s like whole-wheat bread that doesn’t appeal to my taste buds—but over time I reap the benefits of more energy and a slimmer waistline.” - 3 Reasons God Sends the Bread of Adversity Y’all believe it or not there are benefits from eating & experiencing adversity in our lives. When He chooses to bring us through adversity, remember God is trying to SHOW us something. Instead of just seeing the struggle, CHOOSE to see what He is showing you. Through adversity we are refined and become like our bread of LIFE, our God. And sometimes in order for that to happen we have to consume that bread of adversity. Adversity EQUIPS us. Guys I talk about equipment a lot because, well it’s important in our walk of faith. Let’s recognize adversity as His way of equipping us. Adversity helps us to constantly see & hear our Teacher. When we are being oppressed or afflicted, that is when we can choose to SEE God through to the end. It is up to us to LISTEN for His guidance. In times of adversity we will wander left and right but, when we TRUST Him through it, we will hear His voice: “This is the way. Walk in it.” Thank God for His bread of adversity, today! MKG
