Romans 12:9 reads: "Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good." Let’s focus on: "cling to what is good". Guys, I can't tell you how often I've gripped onto the bad. I've held onto so many things that I know the Lord was pushing me to let go of. But I was too stubborn to do so, because I thought what I was clinging too was bettering me in some way. I was wrong. We cling to the wrong things. Bad relationships, friendships, addictions, hobbies, and situations. We cling onto the negative words someone has used against us. We cling to the hurt. We cling to jealously, bitterness, selfishness, hatred. We cling to what is bad for our hearts. And this grip is pulling us further away from Jesus. We cannot GROW spiritually when we are gripping things that are pulling us away from God. We cannot move forward when we hold onto the negative. I wake up every day clinging to things I cannot control. I cling on so tightly, in hopes that the situation will change, but I have to face the reality that it won't. I also have to TRUST that God has changed situations in my life for a reason. Y'all, it's okay to walk away from what is not bettering you anymore. You don't have to cling onto something that used to be good in hopes that someday it was be good again. It's called boundaries. It's called bettering yourself. It's called GROWTH. Stop clinging onto what's bringing you down. All it's going to do is consume you- in all the wrong ways. I know it's hard to let go of something that just won't let go of you. But LET IT GO & let GOD! Let God remind you of what is GOOD & cling to that. Cling to God. Choose boundaries over choosing to be overcome by what's bad. Gripping onto situations isn't going to better you. Gripping onto things isn't going to help you. Our help comes from the Lord! He is able to loosen your grip. He is able to confirm what's good in your life. He is able to build your boundaries and protect your heart. "Love is sincere." and so often we grip into things that do not love us sincerely. Place your grip elsewhere today. Grip onto God. Cling to His goodness and sincere love. Let Him have your grip. MKG
