Discernment

I’ve spent the last week praying for discernment in a few areas of my life & sure enough, my devotion this morning was about just that- using discernment in a world rooted in sin. It discussed the need to keep our ears unclogged by recognizing and rejecting false truth and remaining tuned into God’s truth. It left me with this: “Would you please show me any and every lie or false truth that I’m believing?” - in other words where could I use more discernment? I have a lot of BIG choices and changes coming my way and it is crucial that I keep my heart aligned with His word & the Holy Spirit to help me discern what’s right and wrong. But, it’s easy for lies to creep in and cause confusion. And this is why we must keep Him at our central focus and involve Him in all things so we can have the best judgement- in our relationships & our everyday choices. 1 John 4:1 reminds us to “TEST them to see if the spirit they have comes from God.” We must test all things according to His word. Does it line up? Is it biblical? Does this choice reflect what Jesus would do? Most importantly, we must LISTEN for God’s call. What happens when we don’t listen? Well, we fall into deception. And when we fall into deception we don’t just fall alone, we bring those around us into it too. Today, I pray for discernment in your biggest decision. I pray for discernment in your relationships and friendship. I pray for discernment to know, listen and RECOGNIZE God’s truth, and for the ability to recognize when something lacks that. I pray that your ears become unclogged so you can see false truth. May you be filled with the wisdom you need to stop believing lies and take action based on truth. Show us, God the lies we are believing. Show up where we could use more discernment. Show us where lies are present and causing confusion. Help my heart TEST to see if the spirit it holds is yours, God. Amen Take a minute to STOP and listen for where God reveals lies in your life & CHOOSE to step forward with discernment. MKG
