Finding JOY in Correction

I genuinely find so much joy in His word. Each page is filled with such hope + light, truth + understanding. The words challenge me, teach me, guide me into + through each circumstance. This season I am allowing my heart to be corrected. And, with correction comes a little hurt and pride, not wanting to admit your faults. I talked a little yesterday, okay no I talked a lot yesterday, about James 1:2-4... and beyond the bigger message I shared, the word “joy” really stood out to me. “Consider it pure JOY when you face trials of many kinds” + in the midst of those trials, though it’s hard, though we feel pressure, there is JOY because of how we are shaped in the process. I can’t tell you how many times I open the Bible with the intent to find something that fulfills me, but what about that need to be taught? What about making room for correction? Humble yourself, put away that stubborn pride + approach His word knowing there is a lesson for your heart. It may be hard to take. It may be hard to grasp, but “consider it pure JOY” because, it’s preparing you for something. It’s prepping you for that God-sized dream. It’s setting the stage for your calling. It’s giving life to a piece of you that wasn’t shining before. I challenge you tonight to approach your study time with humility. Come to Jesus ready for correction. + prepare your heart to REJOICE in what lesson He has in store for you. Let yourself find JOY in the midst of the truth + correction. Then, keep that verse, that word, that story CLOSE to your heart over the next few days. Take it with you in all areas + see how He uses it within. MKG
